school is almost over!!!

What do you know, the school year is coming to a close. After a wonderful Little 500 week of slip n slides, day drinking, summer dresses and of course, biking, I am being forced into the library to study for my finals and finish up some projects. Not fun, if you ask me. But I can hardly even think about media law and ethics and political science because I am just so darn excited for this coming summer!!!!!

When I get back from school, the fun with my most favorite girls from home begins! This means bike rides, lots of ice cream, jumping on the trampoline, trips to KAMS, dinners on the porch, and LAKE WEEKEND! Memorial Day weekend we are going down to Bethany and Whitney's lake house. This is one of my most favorite things because we just lay on the dock tanning, go jetskiing, tubing, waterskiing and pontooning. Our good guy friends will also be there, just next door. I can hardly contain my excitement! Then my sister graduates from high school and four days later I'm leaving the state!

I'm heading off to Hilton Head Island with my best friend Ali for 3 months of lifeguarding on the beach. Its like Baywatch, but better! But really, this summer is going to be great. We are staying in her grandparent's summer home (niiiice) and are looking forward to grilling out and sitting on the porch eating and sipping on some cocktails while watching the sun go down, boat rides, going out with new friends.... And of course the birthday beach bar crawls... There are 12 bars on the beach and on people's birthday the lifeguards get on their bikes and ride from bar to bar drinking. What fun!

I will keep everyone updated on my adventures this summer. Hopefully I do not have to save anyone from a shark or riptide. My lifeguarding experience goes about to watching kids at the country club with their mothers in arms length away.

This will be meeeee this summer!!!!!!

eeeeee i am so excited!

love life

"Do what you love to do, and do it so well that those who come to see you do it will bring others to watch you do it again and again and again."
-Mark Victor Hansen

I'm a sucker for quotes. I find so much inspiration, happiness, and meaning in them... I could spend hours reading quote books. For my last birthday, my best friend got me the quote book LoveLife, compiled by Kobi Yamada. It is easily my favorite quote book, full of quotes about what else - loving life. With colorful page after colorful page, this book is the perfect gift, whether it is for a birthday, holiday or just because.

I know how it feels, Michigan State.

Well, the Tar Heels did it again. In just four short years, they became the NCAA Men's Basketball Champions. This time, they did it by beating (more like slaughtering) Michigan State. Oh MSU, you had so much potential but its okay, UNC is just the better team. Illini Nation knows how you feel. If you need a shoulder to cry on, we're here. We were the last team UNC took down to win a national championship, and we know... it hurts. Of course, Illinois did hold the number 1 spot in rankings for 17 weeks straight and only had 1 regular season loss... so i guess that makes a bit of a difference. In my reminiscing of that magical 2004-2005 Illinois season, I can't help but remember the game more exciting than the national championship against UNC, or the Final Four game against Louisville, but the Elite Eight game against Arizona. When all hope seemed lost (being down by 15 with 3 minutes to go), the Illini, led by Deron Williams, Dee Brown and Luther Head rallied back to take the game into overtime.... and then to win. It still gives me goosebumps watching the highlights.

My first post!

Today it snowed... It's April! Two days ago I got sunburnt and today I'm wishing I had my Uggs. I guess that is the Midwest for you. But I am not going to let this day of cold weather get me depressed and sad! Instead I am thinking of how in 5 weeks I will be on summer vacation... mmmm. In the past, the best part of summer has always been reuniting with my closest friends and spending all my time with them, but this summer we are all heading in different directions for the first time ever. The NEXT best thing about summer is being able to throw on dresses for all occasions. After doing a daily scan of the J.Crew website, I found something(s) that I just love. The first is the convertible swing dress. This is very similar to last year's but the bottom is slightly different. It comes in brown, black, navy and bright pacific. I am personally a navy girl myself, but all the colors are great! Next is the cotton medallion dress. This is a little crazier than the swing dress, but it is just fun. You could dress it up and wear it out with friends or throw it on over a swimsuit before heading to the beach.
