just in time for a new weekend

I failed on giving last weekend's recap, and it was such a lovely little weekend it shouldn't go unmentioned. Friday night I went out to the Buckhead bars with my roommate Megan, and a few friends from IU and stayed out way later than necessary. Tore up the dance floor at Park Bench, but hey, that's to be expected when a live band is playing, right?

Saturday, Courtney and I decided to drive to ATHENS for a fun day trip, even though when we began our adventure it was pouring down rain, lightning, thundering, the whole shebang. I know we looked at each other multiple times on the way there and said "We have lost our minds" or "This could either be the best or worst decision". I'm going to go with the latter. As soon as we pulled into Athens, the clouds went away and the sun poked it's head out. I found some fantastic vintage finds at Agora and then looked at all the beautiful spring clothes in other stores that I'm far too pale to try on just yet. Lunch was meant to be at Last Resort, but neither of us were too hungry until 4:00, and Last Resort is closed for lunch at that time. We chose Pauley's, a delicious crepe restaurant, and Jane met up with us! It was so fun to see my dearest darlingest seester. After a tour of Jane's house and some delicious dessert, we headed back and I had a relaxing night catching up on my TV shows I had missed while living in the Stone Age.

Sunday meant church with Courtney, and although I am not Presbyterian, I have to say it is just wonderful having a church within walking distance of our apartments. Some church is better than no church after all, and it is the same God! Errands were run and I had my first ever Trader Joe's experience. I was a little overwhelmed by all the veteran shoppers who knew exactly what they were doing. If I'm going to be completely honest, I was really just there for some 3 buck chuck... Megan and I might possibly definitely have a wine problem. A walk with Whitney topped off the day and I made a delicious and easy jambalaya for dinner. It was the perfect weekend of fun and exploring and relaxation.

This weekend my parents (HOORAY FOR TODD AND SARA!) are coming to town and I might pee my little pants I am so excited!!!! And next weekend I am headed to Oxford, MS to see the man of the hour. Or well, 3 months. Yay for fun things ahead!!!!

Way back in November, I blogged about running a few times each week. Probably to no one's surprise, that didn't happen. I think I ran once and my knee started hurting, my arches had sharp pains shooting through them, and I got bored. I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to get to a "runner's high".... just not for me. However, I have been telling myself I need to work out ever since I moved into my apartment. With my rent, we have full access to a gym all of 1 minute from my building. On Monday, I finally forced myself to go, and although my workout consisted of 30 minutes on the elliptical and lifting weights, I felt so much better and productive that night. The best part is that each machine has a TV, so rather than laying on the couch and watching TV when I get home each night, I can go to the gym and watch a TV show for 30 minutes or an hour all while improving my health and keeping the lbs off! Win win situation if you ask me. And ya'll should be proud -- I went again last night!

welcome back to the 21st century!

Okay, but seriously. Since Saturday morning at 11:45, I've been living in the Stone Age. I was happily watching Clueless, searching IMDB.com to see what Alicia Silverstone is doing now, when all of a sudden, my TV went blank. And my webpage wouldn't open. Not only did my cable go out, but so did my Internet. Basically, my worst fear came true.

In retrospect, I probably should have called Comcast right away. But I didn't. I thought maybe it would come back miraculously on it's own, that it was just a slight glitch. Nope. On Sunday we called, after it had been 24 hours of Stone Age life. After the lady on the phone sent lord knows how many pointless signals to our cable box and made it impossible to even access our DVR, they decided it was time to have someone actually come to our apartment and check it out.

This was a great plan, except the soonest they could get someone to our apartment was Tuesday morning between 8-9 am. Now, unless you've been living under a rock, there was some serious TV going on between Saturday and Monday. NFL playoff games, college basketball, Golden Globes, Gossip Girl.... yeah. Didn't see any of that. When the Comcast man finally came to our apartment on Tuesday, it was 9 am and Megan and I had to go to work. Note to self, when Comcast says they'll be there between certain hours, count on it being towards the later hour. This prompted phone call #453 (okay, like #7) to Comcast, and they assured us that someone would be there to fix it. ON THURSDAY. That means missing Modern Family, The Middle, New Girl, Happy Endings, Revenge, and more college basketball. Not a happy camper.

This does have a happy ending. Comcast man finally came to our apartment last night and fixed the cable (someone had unplugged cords downstairs and replugged them into the wrong plugs... why?!?!) and the Internet, with a new router so I can actually access the Internet in my room. Halllllelujah.

While I extremely missed laying on the couch and watching all my TV shows, I have to say it did force me to do other things, like doing laundry. Or reading a book. Or giving my bathroom a head to toe cleaning. Or hanging frames on my bedroom walls. Unfortunately, it didn't motivate me to work out. While my 5 days living in the Stone Age weren't 100% miserable, I'll gladly go back to the 21st century to be a couch potato every now and then, laying on the couch, watching Clueless, and surfing the web.

new year, new blog

I feel like I have said this one too many times, but I have been a bad blogger. Once the middle of November hit, the holidays got into full swing and life had some big changes. I moved into a new apartment in the city, started an internship (paid, I might add!), and began a new relationship. Although I had plenty to blog about, I didn't take the time to do so... once again.

Now with the new year, my blog is going to see a couple changes - but mainly style-wise. I am going to make it a priority to blog once a week, and more if possible! I love blogging and I love reading other people's blogs, but I need to maintain mine so that I don't lose all of my followers!

I may not be able to keep my resolution to work out once a week (embarrassing), but I am determined to keep my resolution to be a better, more interesting blogger.

Wish me luck!
