Weekend Recap: Nashville

This past weekend was a good one! While I did travel AGAIN, it was a relaxed, fun weekend and I loved getting to be back in Nashville with my friends.

Friday night my old coworkers and I went to Old Glory, a new bar in Edgehill Village. I wish I had better pictures of the space, but the ones I took are super grainy and do not do it justice at all. Just trust me on it - go. And I recommend the Birdie with gin - of the 4 drinks I tasted, that one was my favorite!

Saturday morning, Mary Jeanne and I got our butt kicked at Orange Theory, and naturally followed it up with donuts from Five Daughters. We got the Maple Glaze and Peaches and Cream and both were delicious!

Stopped by Warby Parker to get my sunglasses adjusted... it's just the prettiest space.

Saturday night we went to the Sounds game and got whiskey and coke slushies from The Band Box. It's this cool bar/outdoor game and lounge area in right field, brought to you by the owners of Pinewood Social, Patterson House, Paradise Park, etc... so naturally it's good. Had it not rained earlier, I think we would have spent more time at The Band Box, but tons of the lounge chairs were soaked. We ended up at Acme and a new bar - Crazytown - downtown, and had tons of fun singing and dancing.

Yes I took a screenshot from Kelsey's snapchat, no I don't care :)

Sunday brought church, lunch at Burger Up (I'd been craaaaaving it!) and then I was back on the road to KY. Thanks for another awesome, awesome weekend, Nashville!

Currently

Another Friday, another Currently! Work has been so busy and crazy recently, so I'm really happy to see Friday here. Plus, I'm not traveling so it will be nice to spend a weekend in Nashville. As much as I love going on trips and visiting friends, I also love being in my own city. Do y'all have fun plans? I'm doing a yard sale with a co-worker on Saturday - we are selling all of our old clothes that we don't wear anymore! Other than that, I don't have any major plans, but I am hoping to get out one night and let loose! Now - for what I've been Loving and Lusting over this week!

----

1. Sole Society Suede Bow Pumps: Now that we are in October, it's time to dress like it's fall, even if the temperatures do reach 80 every now and then. Since I haven't had a full time job the past 2 falls, this is the first time I've needed clothes and shoes for "fall lady executive" (lady executive being used lightly). I think these pumps would be a good addition - a good neutral and I love the bow! Plus, you can't beat the price. $50?! That's a steal.

2. Target Ponte Moto Jacket: I want this. I need this. It's been sold out everywhere in the olive color and now it's back online. Yep. Already in my cart.

3. J.Crew Bracelet: I mean... it's just pretty. I love jewels. Can I have everything on J.Crew's website?

4. Domino Magazine: Did you hear? Domino Mag is BACK. For all the home decorators and interior designers, this is great, great news. The magazine is coming back digitally, and will be published for newsstands quarterly. The first issue goes on sale October 8. All is right in the design world again.

5. Jimmy Fallon: So this isn't a pair of shoes or sweater, but I am absolutely lovingggg Jimmy Fallon. His skits are hysterical - did you see #Hashtag with Justin Timberlake (another one of my favorites)?! It actually doesn't get old - I've watched it probably 15 times now. Or the insane lip sync battle with Joseph Gordon Levitt and Stephen Merchant? It's priceless, and JGL kills it with Superbass. Team Fallon right here.

6. Nashville Map Print: The coffee table is complete (more on that next week), so now we need to find a rug and start decorating the walls. I think this Nashville map print is a given, and I think it would look great in our entryway above the entryway table. Oh Nash, how I love ya.

Happy Friday and have an amazing weekend!

NASHVILLE FALL BUCKET LIST

I looked at the calendar today and realized - it's October 8! Before I know it, it will be full on Christmas and winter and I will have completely missed all the fun fall things I want to do. I refuse to let that happen, so here is my fall bucket list. Some of these are specific to Nashville (like Arrington Vineyard and Gentry Farm), but I think this bucket list can be applicable no matter where you are. Anything I'm missing?! Time for me to get planning!

4 MONTHS OF LIFE IN ONE POST

Even though it's been four months since I blogged, I have been keeping up with my Instagram (follow me if you aren't!), so you probably have a slight idea of what I've been up to. But since this is a LIFE and style blog, I thought I might as well give a quick photo & caption update as to what I've been doing the past 4 months!

It's been a lot of wedding attending, celebrating sorority sisters and friends from home.

There was also some weekend travel to Lexington, NYC, Champaign, and Columbia, SC.

And lots and lots of fun in Nashville canoeing (cabrewing, actually), happy hour-ing, exploring, chasing waterfalls (literally), going to concerts, and rocking out at a hot chicken and jorts festival.

This fall isn't looking to slow down one bit either, between friends and the bf visiting Nashville in the coming weekends, concerts, football games, Keeneland, and another wedding. But what would life be if not totally crazy?! And when it's this full of fun, I really can't complain one bit.

WEEKEND REVIEW

Happy Tuesday/Monday for those of you who had yesterday off! My office was open on President's Day, but we had a major snow/ice/sleet storm here in Nashville, so I decided not to risk the roads. It probably wasn't that major compared to what people in the northeast get, but I don't like to mess around with ice. Today the roads are supposed to be worse, but the sun's out, so we'll see how it goes. Right now I'm planning to work from my pj's!

It's been awhile since I have done a weekend review, but this was a really fun one so it's worth sharing. On Friday night I met family friends out for drinks at Pinewood Social, which was a great kick off to the weekend. Pinewood Social isn't my favorite for dinner, but it's an awesome place to take out of town guests because it's such a unique space and concept.

On Saturday I spent my Valentine's Day indoor rock climbing at Climb Nashville. For anyone who lives in Nashville - I highly recommend this as a weekend activity. We got the day pass, so we could rock climb all day and switch between the East and West locations. We started at East, which was great because it's much smaller and less hectic than the West location - good for beginners.

After our first round of rock climbing (your hands really start to hurt!) I was starving so the solution was tacos. Is there ever a time tacos aren't a solution?! I took advantage of the fact we were in East Nashville (don't get over there as much as I would like) and went to Mas Tacos for the FIRST TIME. Y'all, how have I lived in Nashville for over two years and NEVER BEEN HERE? I think there's something wrong with me. The tacos were amazing and that grilled corn. Oh em gee. Unreal.

After Mas Tacos, we went to the Climb Nashville West location where I climbed a 60ft+ wall. After I rewarded myself with queso and a margarita (more Mexican, obviously). The night was spent relaxing at home and drooling over these Kendra Scott earring beauties. I'm envisioning so many outfits with them!

Hope you all had a great weekend as well! How was your Valentine's Day and long weekend spent?

WEEKEND

Whew! This week went surprisingly quick and I am HAPPY about that! Last night I went to a wine tasting and had a little too much wine, so things are a little slow and I don't have much for you today other than these pretty images. I added Tumblr to my iPad (I love having an iPad, by the way. Life changing) so it's been super easy to pin new stuff!  Follow me for continued prettiness!

In other big(ish) news, I started an Instagram account exclusively for my blog! The handle is @lovethislifeblog, so hopefully really easy to remember. I'm excited about it and would love your following! Check it out - lots of Nashville spots, new clothes, recipes, and quotes coming to your feed!!!

Hope everyone has an amazing weekend - I'm going to City House tonight for the belly ham pizza with a cracked egg (salivating right now) and some drinks and HIKING tomorrow because it's going to be in the 50s!!!!!! Let's all do a happy dance for that! And Sunday - GO PACK GO!

Peace out, sweet friends! Thank you for your continued support of my blog :)

GUEST POST: EDMUND'S OAST // CHARLESTON, SC

Hi everyone! Annie is back for the final post of our Weekend in the City series. I hope you all have enjoyed following along as much as we've enjoyed highlighting our favorite spots! Now I just have to get her to visit Nashville :)

---

Hey everyone!! I’m back for my last post on my favorite topic: BRUNCH! Charleston has about a million places to eat brunch, but one of my very favorites is Edmund's Oast. It’s located in an up and coming area of Charleston, and they only serve brunch on Sundays. It’s so worth it.

Their french fries may actually be the best I’ve ever had (sorry, Bloodhound!!!). PLUS they come with this delicious curry sauce - amazing. I highly recommend the pickled shrimp, and I hear the burger is one of the best in Charleston.

Another major plus: beautiful branding and decor. For dinner (or brunch if you would rather skip the mimosas/bloodies), they have over 40 beers on tap, and some of them (including a PB&J blend) are brewed in house. Oh, and if you’re their for dinner, definitely get the cheese plate or the ricotta. YUM.

Obviously I like the french fries.

My church is pretty casual, so my Sunday brunch outfit looks a lot like this. Cozy sweater ($19!!!), statement necklace (similar), black jeans (by far my favorite EVER), more of the same sneakers and a big bag (similar) per usual for all of my notebooks, water bottles, Bible, etc etc etc.  (Also, this is what happens when I take solo shots.)

I’ve loved this little mini-series Rachel and I have gotten to do! Isn’t she the best!? If you’re ever in Charleston, give me a shout! I’d love to meet for brunch, drinks, or coffee :) I have a feeling there might be a new place or two to show you, too. Thanks for following along and happy Thursday! Xoxo

GUEST POST: CHARLESTON FARMER'S MARKET

Hi everyone! Annie is back today for the second post in our Weekend in the City series! Today she's sharing her favorite thing to do on a Saturday morning in Charleston. Be sure to stop by her blog to see how I spend my Saturdays in Nashville! Enjoy!

Saturday morning in Charleston mean Farmers’ Market time. To be totally honest, Saturdays are usually my days that I like to sleep in, but when I have a week where I’m going to be cooking a lot, I try to make it to the Farmers’ Market in Marion Square. I love walking around (with a coffee or smoothie in hand - depending on the weather!), taking photos, and picking out some of my favorite fruits and vegetables to enjoy for the week. I love the vendors that have a little something different - from Rewined candles to Carolina sea salt - there’s a pretty cool combo of vendors and products, but definitely get there early!

Favorite things to buy include honey crisp apples and different kinds of (spicy) peppers. This weekend though, it’s time for a pumpkin! I love decorating for fall.

Last time I was in town on a Saturday, it wasn’t quite so cool outside, so I wore comfy shorts, easy sneakers, and a scarf. For now, though, I would still go for comfort with a pair of my new favorite black jeans instead of my silk shorts and maybe add a coat to the look (I’m dying over this one).

Shirt | Scarf (similar) | Shoes | Jeans | Glasses | Bag

GUEST POST: THE VENDUE // CHARLESTON, SC

Happy Thursday, everyone! Annie is here to kick off the start of our Weekend in the City series, and she's got a great post for you on where to get drinks while in Charleston! Make sure to check out my Nashville pick over on her blog!

Hi everyone! To kick off our weekend in the city collaboration, Rachel and I decided to feature our favorite spots to grab a drink in town. I loooove having people visit me in Charleston, and one of my favorite things to do is take them to get drinks somewhere fun. There are lots of fun options, but if dinner is after sunset, The Rooftop at the Vendue is my favorite spot! It boasts beautiful views of East Bay, which hosts some of the best restaurants in Charleston. You can also see the water, which isn’t the case for some of the other rooftops in town. My favorite drink to order: The Skinny which is Tito’s, St. Germain, pomegranate purée, and grapefruit juice - light and refreshing! Another option for the margarita lovers (or Instagram-seekers) is the Hot Lolita which is habanero-infused Don Julio Blanco, Cointreu, and cactus pear purée - it’s the hot pink beauty from my Instagram and above!

We’re in the south, so even in October and November, I look for light layers in dark, fall colors. My go-to uniform is my pair of trouser jeans (above), my Tibi black racerback tank (above), a light blazer (similar above), black wedges (booties above), gold accessories (Charleston Rice Beads, of course), and a pop of color in a clutch (Clare V. foldover above). Really, I wear this outfit too often, but I they are some of my favorite pieces, and those are the things that make you feel the most confident, you know?!

If you ever make your way to Charleston - which you should - put rooftop drinks on the to-do list (and give me a call, too)!!

LIFE LATELY

Well, I only meant for my blog hiatus to be a week... but it turned to two. The good news is I have some great posts lined up over the next few weeks - from food to fashion to home decor - and will be announcing a fun collaboration in the next couple of weeks.

So life, recently. I have officially moved into my new apartment and although there are still boxes in my bedroom and the dining room and I haven't hung everything on the wall, it's getting there, and I love the new place. Sneak peeks to come soon!

Ole Miss came to Nashville to play Vanderbilt at LP Field. Had a great weekend cheering on the Rebs and hanging out the latest and greatest of Nashville - Acme Feed & Seed.

Also made it to a few Live on the Green shows - most notably The Lone Bellow. They are unreal live. Newest fan/stalker.... sorry for the lame iPhone picture!

Attended the grand opening of Madewell at the Green Hills Mall. It was a hipster's dream come true, and I have never seen so many trendy people in one small space. Really excited that we have Madewell in Nash... it just makes sense, you know?!

This past weekend I was lucky enough to attend the Music City Food + Wine Festival, presented by Food & Wine Magazine. It was 2 days of pure food and alcohol bliss, and it reminded me yet again how lucky I am to live in Nashville. We got to try food from the best restaurants in Nashville, wine and spirits from all over the country, and watch some of the best talent in demos. My favorite was Andrew Zimmern (Bizarre Foods) - he was the last of the day and Tim Love and Nathan Followill (Kings of Leon) joined him midway through his presentation and were absolutely hysterical.

Hope you all have a great week. Thanks for sticking around in my absence - New posts coming every day this week!
