SPRING BREAK IS MEANT FOR ADULTS

The beach has been on my mind 24/7 recently, and it's probably because I'm still in that mentality I've had since preschool that come March, I get a week off for Spring Break. Can I just say how much I would LOVE to be heading down to Key West or Seaside or the Bahamas or really anywhere warm in a few weeks?! I want to do nothing more than spend hours upon hours laying in the warm sun and feeling that nice ocean breeze. Which is why I've come to a conclusion. Spring Break should not be exclusive to those going to school and teachers, but open to everyone. Let's be honest, in college you use the break as a way to go to an fun place and pretty much drink an entire week straight, coming back to school more tired than when you left (not that it's necessarily a bad thing). However, if I got Spring Break as an adult, I would definitely be using the time to relax and recharge my batteries. It's too bad I don't have the patience to be a teacher.... then this wouldn't even be an issue :) So who's with me? Should we start a Spring Break movement?!

PRESIDENT'S DAY SALES

Did everyone have a good weekend? I have been feeling a little bit under the weather since last week, so this weekend was very low key with a lot of basketball (Yeah Hoosiers!) and movie watching. I FINALLY saw Silver Linings Playbook and thought it was awesome. I totally have a new found respect for Bradley Cooper and his acting abilities... the guy can definitely do more than comedies. If you haven't seen the flick, you need to go ASAP before the Oscars this Sunday!

Unlike many, I'm working on President's Day, so I am choosing to celebrate our nation's leaders in the most American way possible - taking advantage of the President's Day sales! J.Crew is offering 40% off final sale, Gap 30% off any purchase, and Tibi has 20% off their resort wear. I scored an awesome pair of shorts from J.Crew that won't be seeing daylight until April, but I know they will get plenty, plenty of use.

Got these shorts in coral and white for half price - total score!

My mom picked up this necklace - also loving.

How cute is this leather clutch from Gap? I think adding a monogram to the white would make it even cuter and add personalization! Plus it's a total steal at just $30.

THE ULTIMATE NECKLACE

This necklace on Bauble Bar has been on my mind for several weeks now. Since seeing Liz and other bloggers I follow style it so many different ways, I've decided it's the ultimate versatile necklace. It would be great with a black dress for a more formal occasion, or simply day to day paired with a chambray shirt or simple white t-shirt and jeans. At $48, it's not super cheap, but also not breaking the bank. An amazingly versatile piece like this one makes every penny worth it. Plus, if you join Bauble Bar's mailing list, you get $10 off your first purchase. How about that for a deal?

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

A Valentine's Day card made by yours truly. Circa 2nd Grade.

Happy Valentine's Day to all! Wishing everyone a day filled with love and happiness. Remember - this holiday is about love and that can be the love you have for your family and friends, not just a significant other. There are so many people I am blessed to have in my life that I love, and I like to take this day to remind them of just that!

In the spirit of the holiday, I brought some treats to work today to share with my coworkers. Growing up, my mom made white chocolate covered pretzel sticks all the time. For some reason I specifically remember her always making them for the PTA Ice Skating night during Christmastime... but I thought they would be the perfect little treat for Valentine's Day. I love the salty sweet combo, and they couldn't be easier to make. Have a party to go to tonight? Simply melt white chocolate, add red food coloring, swirl pretzel in chocolate, and let dry on parchment paper. I like to put mine in the refrigerator to speed up the chocolate-hardening process. Wrap in parchment paper and tie a pretty ribbon around and you're set! Less than 30 minutes and you've got delicious treats sure to be a crowd pleaser!

TARGET FINDS

It's no secret that Target is ah-mazing. I've said it once and I will say it many, many more times: I can walk in there with every intention to ONLY buy toothpaste and contact solution, and inevitably walk out with a new jacket, candle, some Valentine's Day paper I found in the $1 section, and who knows what else. On Saturday I headed to Target for basic necessities, but thanks to a tip from my mom, left with a sweet new chambray blazer, seen above. Can we just talk about how cute that blazer is? And the seersucker one? The photos really don't do them justice - very lightweight, comfortable, versatile... yep I'm obsessed with my chambray one. Not to mention these shoes.... hello, perfect spring shoe. Perfect for the days when you're ready to wear spring/summer attire but open toed sandals might be cutting it a little too close. I would have bought these as well, but they were sold out in my average-everyone-wears-it 8.5 size. Time to stalk other Targets! This fabulous smelling candle was also fully stocked.

In other life news:
 - Went to my FIRST EVER hockey game on Sunday, Predators vs. Blackhawks. Blackhawks dominated and I accidentally cheered for them multiple times... what can I say, I'm from Illinois!!! Also, Sam Palladio (Gunnar from Nashville) sat 1 row in front of us. I swear, I'm not stalking him.

Have a great Wednesday!

FINALLY FRIDAY

WHEW. Is anyone else as excited as me to see this week come to a close and the weekend finally be here?! After a long week at work and that awful Indiana loss last night, I'm pretty darn ready to close the door on Monday through Friday. And since I wasn't home last weekend, I am so excited to sleep in in my own bed, finally get things done like going to the grocery, running much needed errands and making happy little valentines for friends! Sunday brings another IU game, hopefully with a win this time, and my first hockey game! Yeeeeeee I am so ready! Have a great weekend all!

HOMAGE... TO YOUR SCHOOL

Our Indiana Crewneck

Fight The Team Crewneck

Miami University Crewneck

Illinois Orange Krush Crewneck

It's kind of strange, but I never had a ton of Indiana apparel while I was at college, and probably even less now. It's pretty sad considering I'm super proud of my alma mater. I just don't want a t-shirt or plain sweatshirt that everyone else has. Luckily, I found a new brand, Homage, that has exactly what I'm looking for. Last night one of my sorority sisters Instagrammed a photo of 2 Indiana sweatshirts she just got in the mail and immediately I wanted to know where they were from. I loved the way they looked - super old school and like they've been well worn - a type of sweatshirt you just can't find at your local college bookstore. Luckily, Homage can take care of that. Homage is a Columbus-based company (hence why there is sooo much Ohio State gear) that pays tribute to "eclectic moments and personalities in sports, music, politics and popular culture" through their custom clothing and accessories.

Even better news? Right now it's buy one, get one 50% off. I highly suggest finding a friend in need, heading over to Homage.com, and placing your order... just in time for March Madness. If you are in need of some Big League Chew or #1 foam fingers, they've got you covered on that as well.

VALENTINE'S DAY IS COMING

Valentine's Day has never been my favorite holiday - I'm much more partial to the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas... but I think I'm starting to have a change of heart (did not think of that pun till I wrote it!!!). How can you not love a holiday that is all about love?! Not to mention it's the perfect reason to wear pink and red together, adorn yourself in hearts, eat lots of cookies and chocolates, and tell the important people in your life how much you love them! In the words of the Beatles, "All you need is love!"

WEEKEND RECAP - BLOOMINGTON

Ah.... what a great weekend.

I feel like I have been saying that every weekend, but it's just the truth. Every weekend is filled with some sort of happiness and fun, and I just love it.

Per my post on Friday, I went to Bloomington to be in the thick of College Gameday hysteria. But not before having a night out in Nashville on Friday and seeing Zac Brown Band at the bar... Seriously - is this life of mine real?!

Photo compliments of Claire Malinowski :)

Saturday brought a lovely morning drive up to B-Town, making a quick pit stop to pick up my dearest friend Sara Michael. Oh my gosh, it was just a great day. Snow was on the ground, campus looked beautiful, and everyone was having such a good time and pumped for the game. And beating Michigan decisively and impressively made it THAT much better.

My gorgeous home for 2 years in college... Miss this place and all the people in it! Sadly, didn't get to see Mom Smith... hopefully at Little 500 ;)

Beautiful Union, even when it's cold and there is snow on the ground.

Please move to Nashville ASAP?!

Cheers to a great weekend and a Hoosier victory! Now onto a tough stretch of games... Let's keep that #1 ranking :)

Happy Tuesday!

TELL THE WORLD I'M COMING HOME

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/04/Bloomington_IN_Kirkwood.jpg

Happy Friday everyone!!!! Is anyone else insanely excited for the weekend to be here? I know I am. I'm headed back to Bloomington, IN - a little slice of heaven in the Midwest. I'm obviously partial, but I can't wait to get back to my alma mater after almost a year since my last visit. This weekend is the Indiana-Michigan game and in case you've been living under a rock, it's a huge, huge game. I can't wait to be posted up at Kilroys, cheering on my Hoosiers back in one of my most favorite places with some of my favorite people... Now if the Hoosiers get a win, that will pretty much make it a perfect weekend!

Anyone else have fun weekend plans?
